MONTREAL, July 27, 2015 – Air Canada and Spafax are excited to announce Jean-François Légaré as the new editor-in-chief for the award-winning media brand, Air Canada enRoute. Within this role, Jean-François will oversee the monthly Air Canada enRoute magazine (including sister publications, the Air Canada enRoute Edition and the Air Canada enRoute Inflight Entertainment Guide), alongside thebrand’s expansive digital platforms, events, and award programs. He replaces Ilana Weitzman, who has been promoted to Content Director, Air Canada Media, and Editorial Director, Air Canada enRoute.
With ten years of multiplatform journalism experience, Jean-François Légaré has contributed to a wide range of leading media outlets, and has a proven track record for creating and curating best-in-class lifestyle content for Canadian readers.

Jean-François has a long history with Spafax, having first joined the team in 2007 working on Air Canada Canada enRoute, as well as other publications in the Spafax luxury and lifestyle portfolio. During this time, Jean-François won several prestigious awards for his writing and editing, including gold at the 2010 North American Travel Journalists Association Awards (NATJA), honourable mentions at the 2011 National Magazine Awards and two P&G Beauty & Grooming Awards.
Jean-François then served as editor-in-chief of fashion and beauty brand Clin d’œil, where he managed the print magazine, iPad application, website overhaul, events and commercial ventures for the magazine.
In 2014, Jean-François returned to Spafax with new responsibilities as Altitude Media Editor – a strategic role within the company focused on building a bespoke content program for Air Canada’s frequent fliers. Jean-François developed and grew the Air CanadaAltitude Community (altitude-community.aircanada.com), a proprietary social network for Air Canada Altitude members, which has already reached more than 10,000 users.

Additional Changes at Air Canada Media
As the Air Canada Media business has grown, award-winning editor Ilana Weitzman has been promoted to Content Director, Air Canada Media, and Editorial Director, Air Canada enRoute. Ilana served as editor-in-chief for seven years, starting with the magazine in September 2005.
