Home on the range? Introducing the Spafax DirecTV team.

The kind of rapid growth we’ve seen at our operation in Chile has created a bit of a space problem at our Santiago office. Simply put, we’re a full house. In order to accommodate the team required to produce DirecTV’s ACCESS magazine, we’ve had to house all six of them in a cabaña in the suburb of Lo Curro (also known as Paula Fontaine’s home office).

Shoe-horning 7 people into 16 square metres of space was quite a challenge but the “intimate” work environment has a couple of things going for it – like the spectacular view of the Santiago skyline far below and the country-like setting.

I’d like to thank the team for their patience these past few months and fear not, our new offices are well under way. I’m starting to wonder if cramped quarters are a rite of passage at Spafax Chile? After all, our first few months of operations in 2004 were spent working our of the cramped staff cafeteria at JWT.

Last but not least, I’d like to congratulate Consuelo Bunster (formerly Graphic Designer, IN magazine) on her promotion to Art Director of ACCESS!

The first Spafax produced issue of DirecTV’s ACCESS magazine for South America is out and it’s already turning heads with a stunning cover featuring El Cisne Negro’s Mila Kunis.

It’s a great read in a bright, airy and contemporary package. Every month, Access’ 112 pages feature the best in film, television, music, events, technology, lifestyle, travel and sports – adapted to 6 distinct South American markets: Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina.

Congratulations to the DirecTV team and the entire Santiago crew for supporting them. It may be summer in Santiago but that hasn’t slowed anyone down!
