Lufthansa Group and Spafax Continue Longstanding Inflight Entertainment Relationship

Companies announce new multi-year services agreement in support of Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS.

 

FRANKFURT, Germany – March 14, 2018 ­– The Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group, and Spafax have announced that they will be renewing their inflight entertainment services agreement through 2022. The agreement will include licensing, programming and delivery of inflight content for Lufthansa Group members Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS.  Spafax has been providing content services for SWISS since 1998, for Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines since 2011 and for Eurowings since 2015.

Spafax currently manages content to six different inflight entertainment systems across Lufthansa Group’s combined fleet of over 600 aircraft. This includes both video and audio programming in up to 20 different languages as well as production services for inflight announcements, safety videos and more.  

This highly collaborative relationship between the two companies has also generated the development of new products and services both inside and outside the cabin. Lufthansa served as the launch customer for Spafax Profile, its interactive entertainment guide, in 2016, with Austrian Airlines and SWISS following up in 2017. Spafax Profile’s dynamic, web-based interface allows passengers to learn more about the entertainment on their upcoming flight.

The Lufthansa Group/Spafax relationship will continue to be managed by the Spafax team based in Frankfurt, with oversight and technical support from Spafax’s London headquarters.
